Palm Jumeirah'da bir gece gerçekte ne kadar?

A night on the Palm has three prices. There is the rate the aggregators show, the rate the hotel shows on its own site, and the rate a member pays. They are rarely within twenty per cent of each other, and the order changes by season.

We pulled six months of data for a single room type at Atlantis The Palm — ocean-view king, two adults, breakfast excluded — logged every Tuesday for the following four weekends. Then we set the member rate for the same night beside it.

In September and early October the public rate was often the better deal: a resort with rooms to fill will cut in public, and there is nothing left to negotiate underneath that. The member rate held steady, which in a soft month looks unremarkable.

December reversed it completely. As the public rate climbed week by week, the member rate did not move — it had been agreed in the spring. On the last weekend before New Year the difference was larger than the whole of the previous month's savings combined.

The lesson is not that members always pay less. It is that members always know what they will pay, and the weeks when that certainty is worth the most are exactly the weeks everyone else is bidding against each other.
